Enigmatic, darkly intense, with a commanding presence, Ian completely unnerves her. And she likes it. ,inha he can sense in her a desire to open up, to experiment, to give herself to the fantasies of a man in control.

Sep 05, Ana rated it did not like it Shelves: The difference is that this story is serial, it is told through 8 short parts. In fact, this part only has 30 pages, when you discard excerpts from other books.

Anyway, we have Ian Noble, a handsome playboy billionaire who is also a Dom. Hmmm, a billionaire who is heavily into BDSM, that doesn’t sound familiar at all, right? And then there’s Francesca Arno, a gifted painter. She’s also shy, socially awkward and innocent.

They meet, there’s instant attraction, he hires her to paint the view from his condo. Can’t stop thinking about her, but she is so innocent there is no way they could be together.

I have to admit that I was intrigued by the format of the story.

I can’t remember seeing a serial being published by one of the big publishing houses. And the reviews were pretty good, so I figured I could try it. I have no idea why I thought I would like it. After all, I couldn’t even finish 50 Shades of Grey, and this sure looked lery another ripoff.

Sometimes I simply don’t understand myself.

Because You Haunt Me (Because You Are Mine, #) by Beth Kery

Read this last night and loved it–I’ve always been a big fan of Beth Kery’s writing. Hero is a dark, mysterious billionaire, but I really appreciated how the heroine challenges him–heck, she even fences against him. Only two chapters in and there already was one scene that made my contacts fog.

Note that this is a serialized novel, with new chapters being released every Tuesday for the next eight weeks. This part, Part I, was two chapters long. As as side note, I find that the concept Read this last night and loved it–I’ve always been a big fan of Beth Kery’s writing.

As as side note, I find that the concept of a serialized novel really works for me. It’s the same reason I’ve started watching more TV series than movies–as a working mom with two young kids I often don’t have time to sit down for two hours and watch an entire movie, but I can easily pick up a 22 or 44 minute show each week.

I’ll be curious to see if more publishers begin releasing these View all 10 comments.

I usually enjoy Beth Kery’s books. I’ve been looking forward to something new from her. This beht novel is a real disappointment. The new trend to release in small increments is annoying, frustrating and is a quick way to lose my book buying dollars.

I want to become involved in a story.

Because You Haunt Me

I want to stay up late to finish a story because I am invested in the characters and their situation. I don’t want to read two chapters, wait a week and read two more. A week later, I have moved on to some I usually enjoy Beth Kery’s books. A week later, I have moved on to something else and don’t want to have to remember I would have been willing to pay the full price of all 8 parts if they had been offered as a complete novel.

Kery, don’t do this to your readers!! Think I will re-read Wicked Burn instead. View all 4 comments. Aug 01, Holly rated it did not like it Shelves: This novella was just Far too short to really get to know the characters, and the story ended just as it was beginning to heat up.

Jul 31, Taz-xo marked it as on-hold Shelves: Let’s work out the maths here shall we? On the other hand, the first part of Beth Kery’s series is 57 pages long, the second part is 42 pages long. So what was the point of this rant you ask? Just to point out that I think what the author is doing is outrageous and a complete rip-off, and I for one will not be supporting this author by buying the parts at these extortionate prices.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a cheapskate at all. I’ll happily pay for books that I can’t wait to read that sound interesting, or that are a part of a series that I love, but I refuse to support this author in her money-making scheme.

I am the Cat who walks by himself, and all places are alike to me. Francesca Arno is a bohemian, starving artist who is the recipient of a philanthropic prize given by Ian Noble, head honcho of Noble Enterprises and self-made billionaire. She’s at a cocktail evening to receive and celebrate her award and to display ,inha paintings when they first meet.

Keyr self-possessed, calm, icy and she is inappropriately dressed poraue a little flustered. He is taken vocf her and commissions her to paint the vi I am the Cat who walks by himself, and all places are alike to me.

He is taken with her and commissions her to paint the view from his penthouse. He’s a sexual dominant and is very attracted to her but tries to keep his distance even though she plagues his daydreams but, when she interrupts his fencing match, he cannot keep his hands off her.

While this felt slightly longer than other e-serials I have read, it is only 2 chapters long and the reader really does have oorque form a judgement at this point whether or not to continue with the series as they really are a costly journey – much more expensive than a standard novel.

Normally, after 2 chapters, I would still be forming opinions and not have made up my mind about a novel. So far, I am not warming to either character. I don’t think we have got to know them well enough yet but the standard of writing is good, and, on this strength alone, I am going to carry on and read part 2.

I need to be impressed soon though. For more reviews, please visit Sinfully Sexy Book Reviews View all 8 comments. Jul 31, Sara rated it it was ok. I didnt rate this very high because it was so short and cut off the story before i would have liked. I see that there are several books in the series, and the problem i have with this is i have to pay for a lot of books that are very short.

I think i could really get into the story if it wasnt so broken up. Because of this i am rethinking purchasing the other books. Jul 23, Mandi Schreiner rated it really liked it. I really have enjoyed her books in the past, and I am excited for this continuing story. I believe this first part has two or three chapters in it.

It is a quick read, easily read in one sitting. Every Tuesday from today, through the next seven weeks, another part will be released.

Francesca is an artist, who entered her painting into a competition held by the billionaire, Ian Noble. Francesca shows up at her celebration reception, feeling a little out of sorts.

While she may at first feel overwhelmed, she also speaks her mind. He invites her to his place, to show her where he wants her to paint and why he chooses his penthouse as the location. Ian is a billionaire after selling his social media company.

Because You Tempt Me

He also owns an internet retail business. While he has tons of money, luxury and can have any woman he wants, he leads more of a lonely, solitary life.

Why so lonely, you ask? Well — He was a reluctant dom, perhaps, but a full-blown sexual dominant nonetheless. He was just wise enough to realize it was inevitable.
